My Charging Module only charges intermittently or not at all. What can I do?Updated 4 days ago
If your SP-Connect Charging Module only charges intermittently or does not start charging at all, a few simple checks can help identify the cause.
1. Test the Charging Module with an alternative power source
The quickest way to diagnose the issue is to connect the Charging Module to a different power source outside of the vehicle.
Suitable power sources include:
- A USB wall charger providing at least 5 V / 2 A
- A sufficiently powerful power bank providing at least 5 V / 2 A
Please do not use a USB port on a computer or laptop for this test. Such USB ports often do not provide the required output of 5 V / 2 A and may cause charging issues even if the Charging Module is working correctly.
Important: Power sources with a lower output may prevent the Charging Module from operating correctly, even if the unit itself is not defective.
2. Check the charging process
Mount your smartphone correctly on the Charging Module and wait up to 10 seconds. Charging may not start immediately after attaching the phone.
Evaluate the test results
Scenario A: The smartphone does not charge even when using the alternative power source.
In this case, there may be an issue with the Charging Module or the smartphone setup.
Please contact our Customer Support at [email protected] and, if possible, provide the following information:
- A short video showing the smartphone correctly mounted on the Charging Module
- Order number or proof of purchase
- Full shipping address
Scenario B: The smartphone charges correctly when using the alternative power source.
In this case, the issue is usually related to the original power supply, wiring or vehicle connection.
Please contact our Customer Support at [email protected] and provide the following information:
- Description of the issue
– No charging
– Charging starts only intermittently
– Battery continues to discharge despite showing a charging indicator - Cable being used
– SP Connect Cable USB-A
– SP Connect Cable USB-C
– SP Connect Cable 12V DC
– SP Connect Cable 6V DC
– SP Connect Bosch LPP E-Bike Cable
– Third-party cable (please include a product link) - Power source used
Please provide voltage, current and power output (V / A / W), as well as the brand and model. - For motorcycle installations
Please let us know whether your motorcycle is equipped with a keyless ignition system.
Summary
In most cases, testing the Charging Module with an alternative power source quickly reveals whether the issue is related to the Charging Module itself or the vehicle's power supply. If the problem persists after following the steps above, our Customer Support team will be happy to assist you further.
