Does the Cable 12V DC draw power even when my motorcycle is switched off?Updated 3 months ago
Yes. If the SP-Connect Cable 12V DC is connected directly to the motorcycle battery, it remains connected even after the ignition has been switched off and continues to draw a very small standby current.
Will this drain my battery?
The standby current of the Cable 12V DC is very low. However, to avoid unnecessary battery drain—especially if the motorcycle is not used for an extended period—we recommend connecting the cable to a switched power source (ignition-switched positive terminal).
This ensures that the Cable 12V DC is only powered while the ignition is switched on. Once the motorcycle is turned off, the power supply is automatically disconnected.
Recommended installation
For permanent installation, we generally recommend connecting the Cable 12V DC to an ignition-switched power source. This helps prevent unnecessary battery drain during longer periods of inactivity.
