Can I connect the Charging Module through my e-bike display (Bosch, Yamaha, Brose, Flyer, etc.)?Updated 4 days ago
In most cases, we do not recommend powering the SP-Connect Charging Module through the USB port of an e-bike handlebar display.
Why is connecting through the display not recommended?
Many e-bike displays from manufacturers such as Bosch, Yamaha, Brose or Flyer feature a USB port. However, these ports often do not provide sufficient power for reliable operation of the Charging Module.
- The Charging Module requires a power supply of 5 V / 2 A.
- Many USB ports on e-bike displays provide a lower power output.
- This can result in reduced charging performance or unreliable operation.
Recommended solution for e-bikes
For reliable operation, we recommend connecting the Charging Module directly to your e-bike's power system.
The following SP Connect cables are available for this purpose:
Summary
While the Charging Module may technically operate through a USB port on an e-bike display, many displays do not provide the required output of 5 V / 2 A. For reliable power delivery and charging performance, we recommend connecting the Charging Module directly to the e-bike system using a suitable SP Connect cable.
