Which cables can I use with the Universal Charging Phone Clamp on my motorcycle?Updated a month ago

Depending on your setup, the SP Connect Universal Charging Phone Clamp can be powered either via a USB power source or directly from your motorcycle's electrical system.

USB connection

The following cable can be used with a USB power source:

Direct connection to the motorcycle

For a direct connection to your motorcycle's electrical system, we recommend the following cable:

  • SP Connect Cable 12V DC / 150 cm
  • Direct connection to the motorcycle battery or switched ignition power
  • Integrated voltage converter for safe power supply to the Universal Charging Phone Clamp

Compatibility with existing cables from the previous SPC system

If the classic SPC 12V Hard Wire Cable is already installed on your motorcycle, it can continue to be used with the Universal Charging Phone Clamp.

Simply connect the existing SPC 12V Hard Wire Cable to the Cable USB-A (50 cm) supplied with the Universal Charging Phone Clamp.

If you have the previous SPC Cable Wireless Charger installed on your motorcycle, this can also be used. Please note, however, that a weatherproof seal cannot be guaranteed at the USB-A connection between the cable and the Universal Charging Phone Clamp.

Using third-party cables

Other USB-A cables can generally also be used.

Please note, however, that when using third-party cables or the previous SPC Cable Wireless Charger, a weatherproof seal at the USB-A connection of the Universal Charging Phone Clamp cannot be guaranteed.

Summary

The Universal Charging Phone Clamp can be powered either using the supplied SP Connect Cable USB-A or, for a permanent installation on your motorcycle, using the SP Connect Cable 12V DC. For optimal functionality and weather resistance, we recommend using original SP Connect power cables.
