The mechanism of my Universal Phone Holder won’t lock. What can I do?Updated a month ago
A certain amount of resistance when locking the SP-Connect mechanism is normal due to its design. With the Universal Phone Holder, this resistance may feel particularly strong if you test the mechanism “in isolation” (without a mounted SP-Connect mount).
To determine whether the mechanism of your Universal Phone Holder is defective, please proceed as follows:
1) Mount the holder correctly
Secure your SP-Connect mount firmly and properly to the intended vehicle (e.g. bicycle, motorcycle, or car). A stable and correct installation is essential for a reliable functional test.
2) Lock the mechanism
Place the Universal Phone Holder flat and fully onto the interface of the mounted holder.
Then rotate the clamp 90° into the locked position.
For a particularly meaningful test, we recommend securing your smartphone in the Universal Phone Holder beforehand. The additional weight and resulting pressure on the mechanism better simulate real-world usage conditions and allow for a more reliable functional assessment.
You can find the official manual here:
Only under these conditions are the required pressure and leverage forces generated to reliably determine whether a defect is actually present.
If the Universal Phone Holder still cannot be locked
If the Universal Phone Holder still cannot be locked despite correct use, there may be a rare defect in the mechanism.
