The mechanism of my Universal Phone Clamp is suddenly locked and I cannot connect it to the mount – What can I do?Updated 2 hours ago

In rare cases, the mounting mechanism of the SP Connect Universal Phone Clamp may accidentally become locked while it is not attached to a mount.

This can happen if the Universal Phone Clamp is not positioned completely flat and flush against the SP Connect mounting head during installation and slips slightly while being rotated.

As a result, the Twist-to-Lock mechanism may remain in its locked position, preventing the Universal Phone Clamp from being attached to a compatible SP Connect mount.

How can I unlock the mechanism?

You can reset the locking mechanism using the SPC+ Tool, which allows you to return the mechanism to its original, unlocked position.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Secure the Universal Phone Clamp: Hold the Universal Phone Clamp firmly with one hand to prevent it from moving during the adjustment.
  2. Position the SPC+ Tool: Insert the SPC+ Tool fully and evenly into the locking mechanism. Ensure that the tool engages two diagonally opposite corners of the mechanism simultaneously.
  3. Reset the mechanism: Carefully rotate the mechanism back by 90° using the SPC+ Tool until it returns to its unlocked position. Slightly increased resistance may be normal.
  4. Check the mechanism: Once unlocked, verify that the Universal Phone Clamp can be positioned correctly onto a compatible SP Connect mounting head.

Important: Make sure the SPC+ Tool is correctly positioned before attempting to rotate the mechanism. Do not apply excessive force or continue if the mechanism appears jammed, as this could damage the locking components.

How can I prevent the mechanism from becoming locked accidentally?

When attaching the Universal Phone Clamp to an SP Connect mount, always ensure that the mounting mechanism is positioned fully and flush against the mounting head before rotating it.

Once correctly positioned, rotate the Universal Phone Clamp by 90° to engage the patented Twist-to-Lock system.

Correct positioning helps prevent the mechanism from slipping or accidentally locking without being properly attached to the mount.
