In rare cases, the Twist-to-Lock mechanism of the SP Connect Universal Phone Holder may accidentally become locked before it is properly attached to a mount.
This can happen if the Universal Phone Holder is not positioned completely flat (flush) against the mounting head during installation and slips slightly while being rotated.
As a result, the mechanism may remain in its locked position even though the holder is not attached to a mount, preventing it from being mounted correctly.
Fortunately, the mechanism can usually be reset using the SPC+ Tool.
How Do I Unlock the Mechanism?
Follow these steps to return the Twist-to-Lock mechanism to its original position:
- Stabilize the Universal Phone Holder: Hold the holder firmly with one hand, ensuring that you have a secure grip.
- Position the SPC+ Tool: Insert the SPC+ Tool fully into the locking mechanism. Make sure the tool engages with two diagonally opposite corners of the mechanism simultaneously.
- Reset the mechanism: Carefully rotate the mechanism 90° back to its original, unlocked position using the SPC+ Tool. Slightly increased resistance may occur.
- Check the mechanism: Once the mechanism has returned to its original position, verify that the Universal Phone Holder can be correctly attached to a compatible SP Connect mount.
