My smartphone charges too slowly when using the Charging Universal Phone Clamp. What can I do?Updated 2 months ago
Our SP Connect charging solutions support wireless charging of up to 15 W. However, the actual charging power achieved may vary depending on the smartphone and usage conditions—this is normal with wireless charging.
Why charging speed may vary
Smartphone compatibility & charging protocol: Not all smartphones support the same wireless charging profiles. Some devices generally charge more slowly via wireless charging or reduce charging power more quickly.
Thermal management: When exposed to heat (e.g. sunlight, navigation use, running apps), many smartphones automatically reduce charging power to prevent overheating.
Power supply (power adapter / USB port): If the power source does not provide sufficient output, less energy is available at the Charging Module.
Simultaneous power consumption: Navigation, high screen brightness, mobile data, or music playback can consume so much energy that the device charges only slowly overall.
Tips for improved charging performance (recommended)
Use a suitable power source
Use a power supply that supports Power Delivery (PD) or Quick Charge (QC 2.0 / 3.0 / 4.0) and provides sufficient output. Low-power USB ports (e.g. on PCs or basic adapters) can limit charging performance.Position the smartphone correctly
Make sure the smartphone sits cleanly and flush on the mount so that the charging coils are optimally aligned.Reduce heat
Protect the smartphone and Charging Module from direct sunlight
If possible, charge in a cooler environment (ideally around 20 °C)
If the device becomes very warm, allow it to cool down briefly—charging performance often improves afterward
Reduce power consumption while charging
Enable adaptive brightness or reduce screen brightness
Close unnecessary background apps
When using navigation: use offline maps and disable unnecessary wireless connections
