My Charging Module only charges intermittently or not at all. What can I do?Updated a month ago
If your SP Connect Charging Module only charges intermittently or does not start charging at all, you can narrow down the cause with a few simple troubleshooting steps.
1. Test the Charging Module with an alternative power source
The quickest way to identify the cause is to test the Charging Module with a different power source outside the vehicle.
Suitable power sources include:
- A USB power adapter providing at least 5 V / 2 A
- A sufficiently powerful powerbank providing at least 5 V / 2 A
Please do not use a USB port on a computer or laptop for this test. These USB ports often do not provide the 5 V / 2 A required by the Charging Module. This may result in charging problems even if the Charging Module itself is working correctly.
Important: Power sources with a lower output may prevent the Charging Module from operating correctly even when there is no defect.
2. Check the charging process
Attach your smartphone correctly to the Charging Module and wait up to 10 seconds. Charging may not always start immediately after attaching the smartphone.
Evaluate the test result
Case A: The smartphone does not charge with the alternative power source either.
In this case, there may be an issue with the Charging Module or the smartphone setup being used.
Please contact our Customer Support at [email protected] and, if possible, provide the following information:
- A short video showing the smartphone correctly attached to the Charging Module
- Order number or proof of purchase
- Full delivery address
Case B: The smartphone charges correctly with the alternative power source.
In this case, the cause is most likely related to the original power supply, wiring or connection on the vehicle.
Please contact our Customer Support at [email protected] and provide the following information:
- Description of the issue
- No charging
- Charging only starts intermittently
- Battery continues to discharge despite the charging indicator
- Cable being used
- SP Connect Cable USB-A
- SP Connect Cable USB-C
- SP Connect Cable 12V DC
- SP Connect Cable 6V DC
- SP Connect Bosch LPP E-Bike Cable
- Third-party cable (including a product link)
- Power source being used
- Please provide the voltage, current and power output (V / A / W), as well as the brand and model.
- When used on a motorcycle
- Please also let us know whether your motorcycle is equipped with a keyless system.
Summary
In most cases, testing the Charging Module with an alternative power source quickly helps determine whether the issue is related to the Charging Module itself or the vehicle's power supply. If the steps above do not resolve the issue, our Customer Support will be happy to assist you with further troubleshooting.
