My Charging Anti Vibration Module, Charging Module or Universal Charging Phone Clamp only charges intermittently or not at all. What can I do?Updated 18 days ago

If your SP Connect Charging Anti Vibration Module, SP Connect Charging Module or SP Connect Universal Charging Phone Clamp only charges intermittently or does not start charging at all, you can use the following steps to narrow down the cause.

1. Test the charging device with an alternative power source

The quickest way to identify the cause is to connect the affected charging device to a different power source outside the vehicle for testing.

Suitable power sources include:

  • A USB power adapter providing at least 5 V / 2 A
  • A sufficiently powerful power bank providing at least 5 V / 2 A

Please do not use a USB port on a computer or laptop for this test. These USB ports often do not provide the required output of at least 5 V / 2 A. This can result in charging issues even when the charging device itself is working correctly.

Important: Power sources with a lower output can prevent the charging device from working correctly even if there is no defect.

2. Check the charging process

Correctly attach your smartphone to the charging device and then wait for up to 10 seconds. Charging may not always start immediately after attaching the smartphone.

3. Evaluate the test result

Case A: The smartphone does not charge with the alternative power source either.

In this case, there may be an issue with the charging device or the smartphone setup being used.

Please contact our Customer Support at [email protected] and, if possible, provide the following information:

  • A short video showing the smartphone correctly attached to the charging device and the charging behaviour.
  • The exact model of the SP Connect charging device you are using.
  • Your order number or proof of purchase.
  • Your complete delivery address.

Case B: The smartphone charges correctly with the alternative power source.

In this case, the cause is likely related to the original power supply, wiring or connection on the vehicle.

Please contact our Customer Support at [email protected] and provide the following information:

  • Detailed description of the issue
    • Charging does not start.
    • Charging only starts intermittently or is interrupted.
    • The smartphone indicates that it is charging, but the battery level still decreases.
  • Cable being used
  • Power source being used
    • Please provide the voltage, current and power output (V / A / W), as well as the brand and model of the power source.
  • When used on a motorcycle
    • Please also let us know whether your motorcycle is equipped with a keyless system.

Summary

Testing the charging device with an alternative power source providing at least 5 V / 2 A helps determine whether the issue is related to the charging device itself or the original power supply. If charging works correctly with the alternative power source, the vehicle's power source, connection and wiring should be checked. If the issue also occurs with the alternative power source, our Customer Support team will be happy to assist you with further troubleshooting.
