No. The SP Connect Handlebar Mount does not feature an integrated vibration damping system as standard.
However, the current version of the Handlebar Mount can be upgraded with the SP Connect Mag-Align Head A, which combines integrated vibration damping with magnetic alignment for easier smartphone attachment.
Please note: The Mag-Align Head A is not included with the Handlebar Mount and must be purchased separately. Older versions of the Handlebar Mount are not compatible with this upgrade.
What Are the Benefits of the Mag-Align Head A?
The Mag-Align Head A offers several advantages:
- Integrated vibration damping: Four specially developed rubber elements help absorb vibrations and impacts transmitted through the handlebars.
- Additional smartphone protection: The damping system helps reduce mechanical stress caused by vibrations, particularly when cycling on uneven surfaces.
- Magnetic alignment: Integrated magnets help guide a compatible SP Connect Phone Case into the correct mounting position.
- Secure Twist-to-Lock connection: Once magnetically aligned, your Phone Case is secured using the familiar 90° Twist-to-Lock mechanism.
Important: Although vibration damping significantly reduces vibrations and impacts, it cannot eliminate them entirely or guarantee complete protection against vibration-related damage.
How Do I Install the Mag-Align Head A?
If you own the current version of the Handlebar Mount, you can replace its existing mounting head with the Mag-Align Head A.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Remove the existing mounting head: Use the appropriate Allen key to loosen the screw securing the original mounting head. Carefully remove the head from the Handlebar Mount.
- Position the Mag-Align Head A: Insert the Mag-Align Head A directly into the mounting interface of the Handlebar Mount.
- Secure the mounting head: Fasten the Mag-Align Head A using the supplied Allen screw.
- Tighten the screw: Tighten the screw to the specified torque of 1.5 Nm.
- Check the installation: Ensure that the mounting head is correctly positioned and securely attached before mounting your smartphone.
Please note: The toothed adapter included with the Mag-Align Head A is not required when installing it on the compatible Handlebar Mount.
Is My Handlebar Mount Compatible with the Mag-Align Head A?
There are two versions of the SP Connect Handlebar Mount. Only the current version supports installation of the Mag-Align Head A.
You can easily identify your version by checking the position of the screw securing the mounting head.
1. Current Handlebar Mount – Compatible
- The screw securing the mounting head is located on the top side of the mount.
- The mounting head can be replaced with the Mag-Align Head A.
2. Older Handlebar Mount – Not Compatible
- The screw securing the mounting head is located on the underside of the mount.
- This version does not support installation of the Mag-Align Head A.
