Does the Charging Anti Vibration Module draw power when no smartphone is mounted?Updated 4 months ago

Yes. If you connect the SP-Connect Charging Anti Vibration Module directly to your motorcycle battery using the SP-Connect Cable 12V DC, a small standby current may continue to flow even after the smartphone has been removed.

This is normal and occurs because the Charging Anti Vibration Module does not have a separate on/off switch and remains ready for operation as long as it is connected to a power source.

What Does This Mean for the Motorcycle Battery?

The standby power consumption is very low. However, over extended periods of inactivity, a continuous standby current may discharge the battery, particularly if the battery is older or already weakened.

  • The Charging Anti Vibration Module remains powered and ready for use.
  • A small standby current continues to flow.
  • During long storage periods, this may reduce the battery charge.

For motorcycle applications, we recommend connecting the Cable 12V DC to a switched power source (ignition-controlled power).

  • Power is automatically disconnected when the ignition is switched off.
  • No standby current is drawn while the motorcycle is parked.
  • The motorcycle battery is protected from unnecessary discharge.
  • The Charging Anti Vibration Module automatically becomes operational again when the ignition is switched on.

Alternative for Direct Battery Connections

If connecting to a switched power source is not possible and the Charging Anti Vibration Module is connected directly to the battery, we recommend disconnecting the power supply manually during extended periods of inactivity or using an appropriate switching solution.

Summary

When connected directly to a motorcycle battery, the Charging Anti Vibration Module may continue to draw a small standby current even after the smartphone has been removed. For the best solution, we recommend connecting the Cable 12V DC to an ignition-controlled power source so that power is automatically disconnected when the motorcycle is switched off.
