Does the Charging Anti Vibration Module consume power when no smartphone is mounted?Updated a month ago

Yes. If you connect the SP Connect Charging Anti Vibration Module directly to the motorcycle battery using the Cable 12V DC, a small standby current may continue to flow even after the smartphone has been removed.

This is due to the technical design of the Charging Anti Vibration Module, as it does not have a separate on/off switch and remains ready for operation as long as it is connected to a power source.

What does this mean for the motorcycle battery?

Power consumption in standby mode is very low. However, during longer periods when the motorcycle is not being used, continuous standby current may affect the battery, particularly with older or already weakened motorcycle batteries.

  • The Charging Anti Vibration Module remains ready for operation.
  • A small standby current continues to flow.
  • During longer periods of inactivity, this may reduce the battery charge.

For use on a motorcycle, we recommend connecting the Cable 12V DC to a switched ignition power source.

  • The power supply is automatically interrupted when the ignition is switched off.
  • No standby current flows while the motorcycle is switched off.
  • This helps preserve the motorcycle battery.
  • The Charging Anti Vibration Module is automatically ready for operation as soon as the ignition is switched on.

Alternative for a direct battery connection

If connecting via switched ignition power is not possible and the Charging Anti Vibration Module is connected directly to the battery, we recommend manually disconnecting the power supply during longer periods of inactivity or using a suitable switching system.

Summary

When the Charging Anti Vibration Module is connected directly to the motorcycle battery, a small standby current may continue to flow even after the smartphone has been removed. For the optimal setup, we recommend connecting the Cable 12V DC via switched ignition power so that the power supply is automatically disconnected when the ignition is switched off.
