Does the Cable 12V DC continue to draw power when the motorcycle is switched off?Updated a month ago

Yes. If the SP Connect Cable 12V DC is connected directly to the motorcycle battery, it remains connected to the battery even after the ignition is switched off and continues to draw a small amount of standby current.

Will this drain my battery?

The standby current consumption of the Cable 12V DC is very low. However, to avoid unnecessary strain on the motorcycle battery – particularly during longer periods when the motorcycle is not in use – we recommend connecting the cable to a switched positive terminal (ignition-switched power supply).

This ensures that the Cable 12V DC is only supplied with power when the ignition is switched on. Once the motorcycle is switched off, the power supply is automatically interrupted.

For a permanently installed setup, we generally recommend connecting the Cable 12V DC to an ignition-switched power supply. This prevents the motorcycle battery from being unnecessarily drained during longer periods of inactivity.

Summary

When connected directly to the motorcycle battery, the SP Connect Cable 12V DC remains connected even after the motorcycle is switched off and draws a small amount of standby current. For permanent use, we therefore recommend connecting it to an ignition-switched power supply.
